The M4 "Sherman" Tank was a poor match for the Tiger tanks. The Sherman's 78 mm gun had a difficult time cutting through the thick armor of the german heavy tanks, while their 88 mm guns made shortwork of the poorly armored Sherman. This earned the Sherman the nickname, "Zippo," because (as the famous cigarette lighter commercials proclaimed) it "lit the first time, every time!" Below, welcoming Belgians swarm a Sherman tank.

The same location as seen today.
