On the mission to Frankfurt the aircraft was severely damaged by flak. Four crew members bailed out but the pilot was able to regain control and it landed at the emergency airfield near Merville. The aircraft was left there and the crew, minus one member, was returned to Sudbury in a C-46. - Ted Curtis |
