LT Gene Petersen's crew, 833rd Squadron.

Photo was taken July 1944, somewhere in England.  LT Petersen and crew trained at Rapid City, S. Dakota.  SGT Netzel was transferred to Italy before the crew had their first mission [Note: Netzel actually flew combat on six missions before being transferred in September 44].  On November 30, 1944, their plane was shot down over Merseberg, Germany.  All of the crew bailed out over Belgium and eventually were returned to their base in England.
