Stuart's Crew

LT Stuart's second crew photographed on their last mission, Sept 13, '44. The Aircraft they are posing in front of (#136), was called "Evasive Action" by the crew. It later became known as "Snow White."

Front row (L to R): Ted Golembeski, Joe Wilson, Phil Anderson, and Sid Ward. Standing (L to R): Jim Little, Sid Belk, John Wise, Bill Long, Loyd Stuart

Ding Dong Daddy from Dixie became Capricorn when she became one of the zodiac bombers in April of 1944. When the Group converted to B17s, the crew renamed their 17 "Ding Dong Daddy from Dixie."

The crew pictured above was most of the original Kite crew after they had completed their 32nd and final flight. The bombardier, John Wise, was 3 missions shy of completing his tour. This was caused by the practice of alternatively using either the navigator or bombardier near the end of their tour. He would be later killed as a member of a make up crew. Al Kite was the original pilot, but was transferred to another aircraft. He was shot down in July and not repatriated until September.
