#688 flown by the Pearson crew took a savave hit of FLAK. The pilot, LT Pearson, was rendered unconscious. The copilot LT Orlosky recieved a grievous wound requiring a tournequet and struggled to stay conscious. The flight engineer removed Pearson from his seat and helped pilot the aircraft, controlling the throttles. Orlosky managed to get the plane back to an emergcy field and made a wheels up landing. Pearson and Orlosky recovered but did not fly again. The rest of the crew finished their tour with the other crews.
