The "Roanoke Magician" was forced down in France. All but the pilot, LT Jarvis, survived the landing, and resulting fire. Today this spot is marked by a memorial erected by the people of the nearby town. The memorial has the shape of a B17 tail, and is made from marble. The names of the crew are engraved upon the stone, and gilded in gold. Gerry Christ and Clayton Walker were invited back to participate in the dedication of the memorial.
