This is a photo of a B24 control panel. Look closely and you'll see a substance splattered all over the control panel, on the pilots side. Also, take a look at the gauge at the top left. This gauge tells the pilot when he's in a bank. This gauge would indicate that the aircraft is in a bank to the left, but, in fact, it is on the ground. The lack of hands on the control columns indicates this to be the case, as do the throttles indicating the engines are shut down.

The substance is not the pilot's breakfast, but fire fighting foam, which must have come in through an open window. The gauge showing the left bank is indicating the aircraft is resting on its left wing tip. Most likely, this is #617 which crashed on take-off during a practice mission prior to the group's first combat mission. LT Koonce was in the left seat, and COL Overing was in the right.
