The Norden bombsight. This bombsight was revolutionary and was instrumental in the success of high altitude, daylight bombing. The "G" model also had a chin gun turret. The controller was stowed to the left of the gunsight. The bombardier, or nose gunner, would operate the chin from the bombardiers chair and use a sight located above the bombsight. |

The pilots in the B17 had less room than those in a B24. The cockpit design also reduced their field of view. |
