My Uncle Henry Bodzin was a member of Hughes crew who flew the Lucky V. The photo you have I saw many years ago but never was able to find out where I could get one. Thank you very much. What a great site you have. The watercolor painting I have never seen before nor knew it existed.

my dad was a Dutch inmate in the Buchenwald camp in Weimar. The 486 Bg have a mission on 24-8 1944 to Weimar. Thanks for what you all did for us ,i dont think my dad survive this camp if the factories surround the camp were not destroyed on this day. Lots of dead and injured inmates also The Stonequarry was also hit with bombs. My dad was in the target area too,he have to run fast for his life. with love from holland Els van der Laan

An inspiring website! One that gives honor and well - deserved thank - you's to men like my father, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert H. Nolan, Navigator, 486th Bomb Group. He and my mother, Virginia (aka, Jinny), remain active in the 8th AirForce Historical Society preserving the history of how they kept this country free despite amazing opposition and enormous hardship. I am proud that my father served his country and kept her free for successive generations. To my father and to ALL of you, thank you for your dedication and spirit of resolve!!

Sincerely, Nancy Nolan Teten - Air Force Brat Daughter of Lt. Col. (Ret.) & Mrs. Robert H. Nolan Their email address: umbriago*mymailstation.com

Excellent website and historical information. My father was the co-pilot on LT Krenz' crew, (yet his name is spelled incorrectly on the caption: it should be 2LT Edward J. Grenchus (not Grenchins!)) - - can you make this correction? I hope to be able to obtain more information about any crew members still living (my father is deceased) or sons/daughters of deceased crew members in order that I can contact them and exchange some more information that my father was able to pass on to me several years ago.

Thanks again for preserving this important part of our Armed Forces history!

It was a great thrill to take my Dad to visit his old airfield in Sudbury in 1987. I was a young USAF F-111 pilot at the time, flying F-111's out of RAF Lakenheath just up the road. Can't wait to tell Dad (presty*peakonline.com) to direct his brand new computer to your website!

My father, Jordan, was a bombadier in Yochem's crew in the 833rd squadron. Yes, he is still alive and kicking.

I have been active in the restoration of a B17F in Renton, WA for the Seattle Museum of Flight. I am also active in giving tours of the plane.

I am interested in obtaining either a flight uniform or an officer's dress uniform to make our tours more realistic. If anyone is interested in donating or selling such a uniform please contact me.

Thanks,

David

Hi, I live in a village just outside Sudbury and therefore have a special affinity towards the 486th. Can anybody out there please tell me the company/section responcible for the motor pool? The 486th will never be forgotten in this quiet corner of England.
