Vienna, 25.3.3 Dear Sirs, My name is Santiago Mata, I am a spanish historian, now writing a book about air forces in WWII (the last book I published was about U-boats, you can see it at http://centroeu.com/uboote/sub2.htm). I saw your very interesting pages in internet and will ask you if you can send me some fotos of 486th bg that i can maybe publish on the book. In exchange I can send you an exemplar of the book when published (in spanish), if you send me 20 or more photos, so that i can make a selection: its not an history only of 486th bg, so that they should be photos that can be representative for other, that says, maybe someones about tripulations, to know uniforms etc, but most importants are photos of planes, operations & so. I think i can be better to scan the photos (with more than 300 dpi resolution, best to 600 dpi) on a CD... Thank you anyway for your attention, Santiago Mata Linnéplatz 3 A-1190 Wien AUSTRIA Tel. +431 369 5057 Fax +431 369 5057 12 http://centroeu.com

Brother of William Walter Lambertus - Thanks to all those who contributed their time and effort to this web site. It is a wonderful tribute.
The Swastika is not Hitler's image of a christain cross. it is actually a sign seen in buddist pictures and is a symbol of fertility, but Hitler mirrored it and used it for his own purposes. He wanted his people to be fertile..
Nephew of William Lambertus.
Survivor member of Walthall crew. I would like to talk to Barbara and Keith Lambertus or any other family memebers of the Walthall crew.

Hello, I was staioned with the 486th BG, 834th BS, Sudbury, England, from 1943-45. The Pilot of my B-17 was Lt. Chappelle. I am trying to find out what the whereabouts of the rest of my crew is. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You - Lt. Col. Albert Blomer USAF Ret.
My father was ground crew on the B17G "Bolt From The Blue".
Thanks for the article, picture and information about the Walthall's crew. My uncle, William Lambertus was part of that crew. We really never had any good information about that final flight and are always looking for more information. Is there a way to receive a copy of the picture from the web site? I would like to attend the memorial and would love to be kept up to date on any further information discovered. Thanks for all you do.
My father , Sylvester Matulevich, served with the 486th. Sadly he died back in August 2001 at 86. Just recently my mom gave me a homemade wooden binder. On the cover is the inscription "England 1944 - 1945, Our Gang (486th Bomb Gp)in the ETO". The cover also contains the handwritten signatures and addresses of some 57 airmen. Its a pleasant memory of my dad and all those who served with him.
I am courious as to what "ETO" means. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who could provide an explaination.
Thanks,
Jim
My Uncle was part of Walthall's crew, William W. Lambertus. I would like to know where I can get a copy of the picture on this website and if the two men that survived are still alive today.
Thank you, for all those involved in preserving the memories and history of the men of the 486th bomb group. I am the daughter of Louis E. Delgado AKA: "Lou" These men have etched themselves in history. They are truly americas Heros. With the loom of war in the air, I can't help but think how would we fight this war without the technology of today. Much like the men of WWII did. They relied soley on their brothers-in-arms. There is a bond there that can never be matched. As a sibling of a soldier that served in this bomb squadren, I will forever feel a part of the family of the 486th, and hopefully this inheritance will not be taken for granted by future generatiions.
