As a young man, Roland Andrews was fascinated with the yanks and their airplanes. Quite often he could be seen on base watching operations and mingling with the aircrews. In 1945, Roland was drafted into the Royal Army and was stationed in Italy. After completing his tour of duty he returned to Sudbury, and was hired as a carpenter to help dismantle Station #174. During his work there, Roley came across many documents which had historic value regarding the operations of the 486th during their time at Sudbury. With his personal experiences, and the documents and pictures he saved from destruction, Roley is working to perpetuate the history of the 486th, and was there to help form the 486th Bomb Group Association. It goes without saying, that the americans are fond of Roley, and grateful for his efforts on their behalf.
