Dear Sir,

      Attached please find two letters which I received from an American lady who, according to her own words, had obtained my address from friends of mine in the United States. Mrs. J. Calwin Murphy is, as you will learn from the attached letters, making investigation to find out about her son’s death as an airman over Germany. As the places which she mentions are situated in the Soviet Zone there is very little I can do for my correspondent, but I should be happy if I could help her to get advise as to the best method of making successful enquiries.

      Would you please be so good as to let me know of possible ways and means to assist Mrs. Murphy or to inform me if you should find it more suitable to contact her directly.
