This image shows the ellipse we have just determined to fit the scene. The fit is not perfect, indicating our determination of the image's principal point is off. But, the
fit is good enough to continue our analysis. The ellipse's major axis runs from the SW to the NE, and is bisected by the minor axis running from the NW to the SE. The green line is one latus rectum running through a focal point, which is our estimated center of the imaged scene. The lavender line bisects the diagonal lines, and indicates the orientation of the strike photo relative to the ellipse. The angle between this line, and the major axis yields the yaw angle of 7.1°. |
