The Germans operated a number of Prisoner of War camps from East Prussia to southern Germany. The following photos were taken by photo reconnaisance aircraft during WWII.  Links to Google Maps showing their current locations are available on each page. Some of the buildings on the former POW camp sites still exist.

The photos are provided by James B. Manford, 835th, tail gunner on LT Wiley's crew who became a POW on February 25, 1945.

These camps are commonly known as a "Stalag", which is a contraction of the German word "Stammlager".  The word "Stamm" does not translate easily into English, but losely translates into clan, or tribe. The word "Lager" is German for camp.
