Consolidated B24
"Liberator"

The flight deck of the B24 was relatively spacious. Note the visibility permitted by the many window pains. The radio operator sits in the foreground to the right. The top gunner is directly above and sits in his turret.

Normally only one waist gunner manned the waist gunnery stations. He would switch sides as the need required. During non-combat operations a door could be swung into place to close the opening. The flap at the left of the window could be swung out by the gunner. This reduced the turbulent airflow directly in front of the open window.
