I'm always searching for information about my Dad Teddy J. Ellis who was a tail-gunner in the Bartl crew of the 834th Sq. 486th BG. The entire crew was KIA on a mission to Dresden on 4/17/45. I'd be happy to hear from anyone who knew any of the crew or knows about that mission.

Greetings: Congratulations on having your own web site. It is surprising how much interest is being generated. The young people are starting to ask questions regarding the fate of some of their relatves. Keep up the good work.

I'm a writer who would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has so generously contributed their thoughts comments information and words of remembrance to fine websites like this one. While writing about the 8th Airforce in my WWII novel he Triumph and the Glory I relied often upon the rich sources of information available on the various Bomb Group websites. Thanks! And keep up the good work on your website!

Hello TRAPPIST! Hello PEBBLY! Hello DEEPSEAT! Hello NITEDRESS! This is FICKLE. These were the RT callsigns of the 832nd 833rd 834th and 835th Squadrons respectively and the Sudbury Control Tower. Because of its location and Bomber capability Sudbury for a brief period in the spring of 1944 was considered to be as busy as O'hare in terms of aircraft movements: B-17s arriving to replace B-24s; B-24s conducting Missions during the phase-out. While training flights in the newly-arrived B-17s were in progress; B-24s being ferried out; RAF Bombers and Fighters diverted to Sudbury when their own bases farther north were socked-in or because of battle damage and other emergencies; 8th Air Force fighters and Bombers from other bases diverted to Sudbury for similar reasons.

I was a flight engineer flying B24s and B17s with the 833rd BS. I would like to hear from some of my fellow flyers out there or any of their children. Until I hear the roar of the mighty 8th!

Robin I just read your summary of what it was like to fly in a B-17. Phil Anderson sent it my way. I would love to do that flight! My dad is the Zodiac artist and I am so proud to see his Zodiacs on your web site. I have some additional images I will end to you that dad did while in Sudbury. 4 of these were featured in the 486th BG Newsletter and they will also be featured int the 8th AF News. I am in the process of getting good representations onto a JPEG format. Your Web site is great and I am so glad the 486th has one now. Thank you for your tremendous effort in setting it up.

My dad Stanley H. Stewart(nickname "Bud" or "Buddy") was with the 834th Bomb Squadron(H) of the 486th Bomb Group(H) at Sudbury Airfield England AAF Station #174 / APO 559 from March of 1944 until July of 1945. His occupational skill was construction tech(welding repair). I am looking for anyone that might have been acquainted with him while he was in the Air Corps. He passed away many years ago and I am interested in finding anyone that might have known him. Thank you. 19 7-8-99 12:51:34 207.66.20.204 SaVanne Kilgore savanne*gilanet.com No Homepage Given.
