What a great web site. Keep up the good work. I was an A/C Mechanic with the 833rd Bomb Squadron stationed at Sudbury, England, 1944-45.
A very EXCELLENT web site --- One of the BEST !!!
My father was, F/O Harry R. Lovely, navigator on the "Low Pressure LuLu" #646, 833 sgd., shot down on 11/20/44. He was a POW at Stalag Luft 1, in East Germany. He passed away in Jan of 1970 and was still in touch with some of his fellow ex-crew members. He would have loved this site. I noticed that most of the crew of his plane is not listed in the 486th crew listings and this includes my father. The only crew member I could find listed was the Pilot, 2nd Lt. Howard Glashoff, Jr. who was KIA. I have a picture of the crew taken at the end of training and a list of all the crew with their ranks and duty stations on the B17G, and would like to know how I can get it onto the web page. It is obvious a lot of work has gone into this and I think it is terrific. I also noticed that the 833 is going to have a reunion in Richmond Virginia in 2002. I would like to know if the families of veterans can attend and if they can, how to get precise information on when and exactly where the reunion will be. I spent 4 years in the Navy working on A6 Intruders with one combat tour on the USS Constellation during the Vietnam era, giving me just a small idea of the sacrifice the men of the 486th made during WWII. I hope to get to England and it was great reading about where the 486th was headquartered and the effort made just in getting there for the pleasure of combat.
Sir,
My Grandfather is Walter Dickerson of the 833rd. I am currently in Korea getting ready to retire as an AH-64 Apache pilot. I have always been proud of my grandfather and unfortunaltely both of us share common ground on seeing good friends die in combat.
Thank you having this website and my hat is off to all of the warriors here and gone to better places.

Nice job putting all of this information together.
Thanks
Thanks you very much to put the pictures of my friend Mr ROULIN Claude on your website...Now, after the answer from Colonel DIMEL I am very happy for him and for myself also...It's a tribute for all the American soldiers who comes in Europe to give us freedom. My father was also POW in the same place then Mr ROULIN Firmin, I am working also at the Belgian Railways... Thanks again, we shall never forget what you have done for us...
A well done website. Good effort at keeping this important history alive. While I don't know if I am any relation to Lt. Col. Glendon P. Overing, however it is such a rare name there must be some connection many years back. Regards.
I have been showing Dad some of the web pages. He is feeling his age & has a hard time getting around some days.
I am the Daughter of Donald R. Curtin, he was Armorment in the 486th. I am sad not to see his name on the alphabetical lists. Might it be placed in here with the others please?
I will enjoy visiting this site often to see some of my fathers history.
Thank you too Bill Donaldson for sending Dad the packet of pictures. Bill's Uncle Russ Donaldson was a friend of Dads during WWII.

Just found you guys, great stuff, tnx. Our crew was one of the first 4 replacement crews to arrive at the 486th BG (H) on 6 June 1944 (D-Day). We were assigned to the 833rd BS. We successfully completed our tour with 35 missions in about Sept. of 1944, flying both the B-24 and the B-17. Keep up the great work to preserve the things that happened 57/58 years ago.
Thank you for this most excellent work. I pray it is preserved for postaerity. An uncle of mine was a flight engineer in the 487th. He was on the 3rd plane to land Lavenham, Station 137 the first day the station received its first aircraft. He flew the 2nd mission of the 487th, May 8, 44. His crew was a lead crew and the first to finish 30 missions in the 487th. His last flight was August 5, 44. He was 28,the old man on his crew. The pilot and co-pilot signed up for a 2nd tour and flew 24 more missions before the war ended. Uncle had a wife and two small children West Texas so he didn't sign on for a 2nd tour. From what I can determine, he was on the same mission as the 486th 12 times and maybe a couple more. I am documenting his experience for his children and descendents. He is lives in Ft. Worth. Over the last 40 years, he has told me the stories about his experience so it is time to put his story on paper. Your site is a big help with answers to questions I have been looking for. With out your work and the work of many others, America's finest hour (to borrow a term from Winston Churchill) will be lost to future generations. There are not enough words in the English language to properly say thank you for your fine work. Regards, Allan R. Cleveland
