Dinner was served in only two places that night, the Combat Officers' Mess and the Consolidated Mess and it was a very good one, better than Thanksgiving Dinner. The menu included Turkey, Swiss Steak, home baked rolls, and other delicacies. Unfortunately the supply of some articles was exhausted before all were served.
Later, a program was held in Hangar #2. The talent was imported and paid for out of the party funds. On the whole, the men did not seem to enjoy it as much as they did the other program, even though there was a strip-tease performer. She was received with considerable relish. The general opinion seemed to be that her performance was thorough enough but not as "artistic" as the American variety. (Perhaps by artistic they meant tantalizing.)
After this entertainment, the free beer was made available and large quantities consumed. Even so, a lot was left over. There had been a good deal of disorder during the program and there was more after it was over. A great many of the beer glasses were broken. They had been rented and had to be paid for out of the party funds.
It was expected that the entire program given at Hangar #2 would be repeated at the Officers' Club. Two singers appeared but were received very impatiently, possibly because the audience had heard rumors about the strip-tease. But the only officers who saw her were the ones who went to the Hangar. There was no free beer at the Officers' Club but plenty of drinks were consumed. Several officers who had formerly been with the Group were present and greeted by their friends.
