Really am getting a lot out of your putting all this together! I was with the 486th BG Feb, "45 - July "45. Capt. James Walker was my 835th Sq Commander. I remember guys like "Pop" Genz, Bob Chilton, Wood, Walkup and a few others like Cols. Overing and Keifer. I flew 616 "Short Arm" when Bob Cross wasn't. I wonder if I could get my crew members names added to the list of crew members under Thomas -The Short Arm - 17G #616 A - 06/09/01 under "Assigned Crews" of 835th BS. Here they are: Thomas, George R. -- Lt. - Pilot (This name is on the list, but I need a crew to fly with me) Blake, Freeman D. --- Lt. - Co-pilot Knox, Phillip --- F/O - Navigator Wylie, Robert --- S/Sgt. - Armoror Gunner Brattain, Edward --- S/Sgt - Flight Engineer & Top Turret Gunner Sturgeon, Leo --- S/Sgt - Radio Operator Sandahl, Eugene --- S/Sgt - Ball Turret Gunner Cavness, Herbert --- S/Sgt - Waist Gunner Warren, Donald E. --- S/Sgt - Tail Gunner Thank you, George Thomas I'll send some stories as I can get some together.

I am very interested in de bombing of Coevorden, a target of opportunity for the missions to Germany on 21 february 1944 (Achmer)and january till april 1945 I have sent a airphoto of the strike in 1945 sent to your webmaster. The original photo is in ownership of mr. H. Hoiting. His name is placed on this photo. In Coevorden was on 21-2-1994 a memorial day and a memorial stone with the names of the killed civilians was placed on the walls of the factory that was bombed on 21 february 1944. Two F16 bomberplanes flyed on 14:45 hour in "Low pass" to remember this day. I am still searching to any detail about this day and the other bombardments on Coevorden to get the the real facts on paper for the citizens of Coevorden. I want to say that this website too, leads to answers of the many questions about WW II by citizens and other interesting people. Thanks.

I was a 2nd Lt co-pilot from Dec 44 until the war ended. I finally got home in Sept of 45 and ended up as a p47 pilot in Hawaii. Not a bad transition!

To Robin Smith: I was recently in Colo. to visit my mother, Charlotte (Mrs. George Nason) Nason. We were able to find a little more information on my dad's crew-see the Whitney Crew picture on this site. Maybe you can add this information to that page or where appropriate. Capt. Whitney, pilot, was from Stockton, Calif. Roy Vehlow, the co-pilot, was 2nd lieutenant and was from Sacramento, Calif. Richard Douglas, 2nd lieutenant and bombardier, was from Mass. Richard Warlick, corporal, the waistgunner, was from Hickory, N.C. Sgt. Raymond Weeks, the ball turret gunner, was from Washington, Michigan. Douglass Putnam, the tail gunner, rank of Sgt.(possibly corporal), was from Grosse Pointe, Mich. Robert Fennell, Sgt., the engineer and top turret gunner, was from Sulphur Springs, Texas. James Groat, Sgt., the radio man, was from Waukegan, Illinois. Sgt. Erwin Tomaszewski, the armor man and waist gunner, was from Chicago. Raymond Weeks, corporal, was CG. (I don't know what that means.) I did find out what Bomb Squad-324th-and Bomb Group-91st- 1st Lt. Jack Leslie, was with. My dad, George L. Nason, knew him. I still am in contact with Richard Douglas's daughter. My dad would have loved to have seen this site. Thank you so much for it. Sincerely, Mary Paavola

By doing a name search on the web I was able to find out that my uncle Edmund Krawczyk was a member of the 832nd Bomb Squardron. Up until this time I only knew hew was a radio operator on a B-17 in England. The website is wonderful and I am tyhinking about joining the association. My uncle flew with Crabtrees Crew and I noticed the name of the Secretary of the group is Robert A Harper who is listed on the crew with my uncle. I'm wondering if they served together and if he might remember my uncle??I would also like to contact anyone else who may remeber serving with Edmund Krawczyk Thank you

I'm searching former 2nd Lt Henry Rapp's crew or relatives. On the Thursday 16th November 1944 around 12.30 h, their B-17G 43-37985 (486 BG 833 BS) crahed at Nivelles, Belgium. All the crew members parachuted down to safety. I would like to know the story of their mission and the reasons of the crash. The members of this crew are as follows : 2nd Lt Henry Rapp (pilot), 2nd Lt William H. O'Leary (co-pilot), 2nd Lt Bennie E. Lynch (nav.), 2nd Lt Delmar W. Claussen (bomber), S/Sgt Frank H. Eisenberg Jr (top turret gunner), S/Sgt Robert G. Farver (radio), S/Sgt Billy M. Gwin (ball gunner), S/Sgt John Milhorn (waist gunner), S/Sgt Bernard E. Miller (waist gunner) and S/Sgt Philip A. Scott (tail gunner). Thanks and congratulation for your great site ! Regis Decobeck (Waterloo, Belgium)

My great-uncle was 2nd-Lt. David Virgil Moll of the 832nd Squ./486th BG. His plane was lost on May28,1944. I have truly enjoyed this site, even found a couple of letters from my G-Grandmother through here. What a Thrill! Uncle "Pete" (David Virgil) has always been a bit of a legend in our family (He was a wonderful man, talented writer, and dearly loved by all who knew him). His loss was deeply felt (as were so many at that time in our history). I am forwarding this site to my Grandmother (his sister) my uncles(his brothers) and my dad (to which he was one of his dear father fiqures). I thank-you for what you have done here. I look forward to being more involved with your group. Pam

Dear Sir's I would like to thank you for your work. I was grown up in EINSWARDEN, and i know, what the nazi terror regime has done. Now I'm 37 yeaers old, and married to a wife with black colour. I start to recognice the legacy of those nazi bastards. So i want to thank those who survived the fight, and i will pray for those who lost their lifes in a war against the brown terror. Thank You: C.McK.
