LT Joe Grabow (above) flew with the Eakin crew while at Sudbury. However, LT Eakin flew on the Weatherly crew for his checkout ride, and the rest of the crew flew under the leadership of Lt. Chisena. As a crew, they flew their first mission on August 2, 1944, and eventually became a Lead Crew. As a lead crew they would fly fewer than the 35 mission minimum required of other crews.
