1. The month of November not only marked the completion of the 100 missions for the 486th Bombardment Group (H) but a change in the higher headquarters under which it is to operate. This Group now comes under the tactical and administrative control of the 4th Bombardment Wing (Provisional) commanded by Colonel F. W. Castle. This Wing is the first of the changes in the 3rd Bombardment Division to become a Bombardment Wing composed of five Groups. The 486th Group is proud and happy to be one of these groups and feel certain that by diligence and mutual understanding with the other Groups and with the Wing Staff, this Wing can become one of the best in the Theatre. The Officers and Enlisted Personnel of the 486th Group will do their part.
2. A concentrated training campaign is under way in this organization at the present time on increasing visual target study for bombardiers and camera bombing with the I-P Target run emphasized. It is felt that during the last two months of operation under trying weather conditions and thru the overcast bombing, the old visual pay-off bombing technique has suffered and combat crews, particularly lead crews, have been under a training system which has, in part, neglected the visual bomb run. One of these days we will undoubtedly have a period of good bombing weather and we intend being prepared for it.
3. We of the 486th Bombardment Group (H) enter the month of December fully aware of our short-comings that were in evidence during November and are determined to overcome these obstacles and continue to better the efficiency of this Group and the Wing to which we belong. Our mission "Success" must not fail.
